By:Mike Litzler
One of the most-visited canyon in the American Southwest located near Page, Arizona. Antelope Canyon has 2 photogenic slot canyon sections, referred to as The Crack and The Corkscrew. The Navajo name for The Crack is Tse bighanilini, meaning "the place where water runs through rocks." The Corkscrew is Hazdistazi, or "spiral rock arches."
Antelope Canyon was formed due to erosion of Navajo Sandstone due to rainwater. The erosion makes the corridors deeper and smoothing hard edges to form characteristic 'flowing' shapes in the rock.
