2.Pokemon

Every now and then a cartoon, tv show or film comes around that causes quite a stir, creating a huge following to almost cult like status. Pokemon was one such cartoon that had trading cards that went along with the show. Originally a video game for Game Boy. The series follows a Pokemon Master in training, Ash Ketchum, and a group of friends as they travel around the world.

3.Mighty Morphin Power Rangers

FOX Kids aired Mighty Morphin Power Rangers in August of 1993 and it became an instant hit. A group of teenagers protect the world from alien invaders with the ability to morph into warriors with super powers. It ran until 1995 and a movie was made from it called, "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie."

4.Super Mario Bros. Super Show

Based on the video game "Super Mario Bros." by Nintendo, this popular cartoon aired on FOX television for four months in 1989 before being picked up in reruns on The Family Channel from 1991 to 1994, where it became a Saturday morning staple.

5.Rugrats

Rugrats became an instant hit for Nickelodeon when it aired in August of 1991. A group of toddlers are depicted in their every day lives. The twist is that they talk and understand each other, only the parents just see it as baby babble. Tommy, Chuckie, Angelica and twins, Phil and Lil, get in and out of trouble every day.

6.Darkwing Duck

Produced by The Walt Disney Company, Darkwing Duck is an anthropomorphic duck superhero who has an alter ego, that of Drake Mallard, a mild-mannered duck. Spun off from Duck Tales, it ran for one season, from 1991 to 1992, and then continued in syndication until 1995.

7.X-Men

Created by Stan Lee, the X-Men, mutant superheroes that have special powers. Clyclops, Iceman, Angel, Beast and Marvel Girl are recruited by Professor Xavier at the Westchester Mansion to train young mutants on using their own special powers. The X-Men was later made into a movie starring Hugh Jackman as the Wolverine.

8.Pinky And The Brain

Pinky And The Brain was presented in Dolby Surround Sound, the first ever animated television show to do so. It was another collaboration between Warner Bros. Animation and Steven Spielberg, their fourth together. The cartoon was a spin-off of Animaniacs, featuring genetically enhanced mice who live in Acme Labs, a research facility

9.Animaniacs

Warner Bros. Animation produced Animaniacs, which was also a collaboration with Steven Spielberg. With slapstick humor centered around pop culture references with some cartoon violence, it was a hit on FOX Kids from 1993 to 1995 and then on the WB from 1995 to 1998. Taking place in Burbank, California, the characters were met with famous people from the present, as well as the past.

10.Batman: The Animated Series

Based on DC comics' Batman, Warner Bros. Animation aired Batman: The Animated Series in September of 1992. The cartoon was Dark Deco style, a type of film noir style. Winning four Emmy Awards, the cartoon was a favorite Saturday morning staple until it went of the air in September of 1995.

Tiny Toon Adventures was another popular kids cartoon that most kids got up to see on Saturday mornings in the 90's. It was a collaboration of Warner Bros. Animation and Steven Spielberg that began in 1990 with the pilot, "The Looney Beginning", and lasted until 1995, a favorite even in reruns.

12.Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was one of the most popular cartoons for kids in the '90's. Four teens morphed into turtles, named after Renaissance artists; Leonardo who wore blue, Michaelango wore orange, Rafael wore red, and Donatello wore purple. Together they fought crime and protected the city from harm, dressed as ninjas.
