1.When An Uncle Pranked A Murder
To begin I have tried to find this guy's name or reports about him yet no one can remember his name, it occurred in the 90s when I was a child while this story is sort of a dark comedy in my family- among other stories.
My uncle and aunt used to travel with the Show when I was a child and when they came to our town my parents and other relatives would come visit them. With the show it's cash in hand work and you simply turn up where the show owners decide if they want to hire you or not there's no background checks, no checking of ID, and some people work on the show for days, months, or years. My uncle was a very likable worker and actually stayed on the show for 16 years.
One week when my uncle and aunt were in town with the show my parents and other relatives came to visit, because I was a kid I would just go play with my cousins and the other show children. While there we encountered this weird guy that would distance himself from the rest of the adults and I'm sure no one liked him. He was small for a guy and short with a big head while often making women especially uncomfortable.
One day when my uncle was putting up show rides and I was playing with the other children one of the show owners told my uncle to do some pointless task so my uncle just said 'get fucked'. The show owner just walked off (mainly because he and my uncle were friends and he didn't care). The weird guy upon seeing this asked my uncle why he didn't get knocked out for telling his boss off, my uncle joked that whenever you don't want to do something just tell your boss to 'fuck off' and he won't do anything. About 20 minutes later we hear a scream and a THUMP, THUMP, THUMP to find the show owner had the weird guy lifted off the ground by his neck and was punching him in the face, every time the guy got punched his head would thump into the building behind them. It turns out the weird guy told the show owner to fuck off expecting nothing to happen.
Later on, my uncle, aunt, my parents, and their friends were drinking and laughing about the guy when the weird guy come back screaming at my uncle that he was going to kill his family, rape his wife, and etc. My uncle just laughed about it, but my dad and some other men hog tied him and put the weird guy back into his caravan. A few hours later the guy (who obviously escaped) was walking down the street crying wearing a backpack.
That same night he was arrested being linked to two murderers in another state where the victims were stabbed to death, apparently the police recognized his face when they saw him walking down the street crying, then when they took his back pack off him they found several types of knives, a rope, gloves, etc just general rape kit/serial killer stuff. The thing with this guy is a lot of people on the show were making fun of him and constantly pranking him because they thought he was such a freak, it's just creepy knowing he was one of those rejects who actually went around killing people.

2.When Camping Went Completely Wrong
This happened to my parents back in the late 80's. They were in their mid-20s when this all occurred. My parents decided to go camping in Cool, California. When they got there, it was kind of late. My Mom was sitting down on a log while my Dad was unpacking the truck. While sitting down, she heard walking around the campsite, so she went and quietly told my Dad she heard someone walking around. They noped the fuck out of there, just in case.
They drove about 3 miles down the road with their headlights off, so they wouldn't be followed. Once they got there, they set up camp and began to drink their asses off while listening to a boxing match on the radio. Eventually, they settled in for the night. Now, they don't know for sure that this next event is connected to the first, but they believe it is. So, they settled in, and my Dad was asleep far before my Mom. My mom was in the half-way state where you're half way awake and half-way asleep. Suddenly, she heard footsteps outside the tent. She abruptly snapped back to consciousness and listened. She tried waking my Dad, but he was way too out of it.
She listened for what seemed like hours when suddenly she hears, in the creepiest voice you could probably ever imagine say "Here I ammmmmmmmm. I'm going to killlllllllll youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu." While saying this man ran, what she believes to be a knife, along the tent. She could hear him walking and dragging the knife. She was literally frozen. She couldn't say anything or move. With her mouth agape, she finally snapped out of it and screamed "JIM, GRAB THE SHOTGUN. KILL THAT SON OF A BITCH." With that, my Dad finally awoke. They heard snapping of twigs and footsteps and heard the guy running away. Of course, my parents didn't have a shotgun. It was a huge bluff that actually worked. My Dad got up seconds later and began to run after him, but he was long gone. After that, my parents decided they were getting the fuck out of there before anything else happened.
When they saw, their tires were slashed. They were in the middle of nowhere and no way out with some maniac that wanted to kill them. They actually tried blowing up their tires with one of those things you use to blow up rafts. Obviously, that didn't work, but they had to try, right? About an hour or so later, a ranger that was patrolling the area came along and helped them out. He brought them back to town, so they could get their tires fixed. While talking to the ranger, they found out that he had been searching for any suspicious activity due to recent murders nearby. My parents were likely the murderers' next victims. I tried finding some of the murder cases online but was unable to.
3.Guess Who's Under The Bed!
I am 22, and this incident happened a year and a half ago. I had just moved into my first apartment and was in the process of moving in. The door that led into my apartment locks itself automatically when closed. So, I was going to the entrance of the apartment complex to get my mail while talking on the phone with my boyfriend. I returned to my apartment and sat on the bed while opening the mail while using the phone, I dropped the phone on the floor, and it landed under the bed, so I had to lie on the floor and stretch for it. I saw something that caught my eye, there was someone under my bed... My eyes widened, and I choked the urge to scream. The person under my bed was lying still with his back towards me and his head to his chest, so I couldn't see his face. And he didn't see me, trying to be rational while so many thoughts rushed through my head, I picked up the phone, said "Sorry I dropped my phone, I'm just gonna take a shower and call you back."
The bathroom is right by my bed, so I hastily walked in, quietly locked the door, turned the shower on, jumped out my window (my apartment is on the first floor) and called the police. They told me to wait nearby, but to go to across the street and see if anyone comes out the door to the apartment complex. This was during summer, and it was still light out, I placed myself across the street, hiding behind a car while watching my open bathroom window and the entry door. I called my boyfriend, and he came to me just before the police. I gave them my keys, and they went inside. Only moments later two cops came out holding a thin and tired looking man. His eyes looked crazy, but he didn't try to get away. The policeman that had stood beside me and comforted me while the police searched through my house (I was a mess, shivering and crying) told me that the man stood outside my bathroom door with one of my kitchen knives waiting for me to come out.

4.This Creepy Public Transport Story
About a year ago in my final semester in college, I worked at a department store in the mall. I didn't have a car yet, so I asked for day shifts because it was a 2-hour bus ride back home. So basically if I had a closing shift, I'd get done at 11 but not get home until 1 am. But sometimes I'd be given closing shifts much to my annoyance since I had a 6 45 am class & my mother's worry because who wants their kid on public transport that late? (Sometimes she could come & get me but it'd be too much of a hassle to get my younger sisters out that late & such, so I never asked her). My managers being the jerks that they were gave me a week of closing shifts, knowing my situation. I was pissed but whatever. One night I had just finished my shift, got on the bus (I sat in the back)& was minding my business when my iPod died. I was annoyed, but I just kept my earbuds in & occupied myself by playing a crossword on my phone.
About two seats behind me I hear these guys speaking Spanish. Now, my stepmother is PuertoRican so while I uunderstand a fair bit of Spanish, I don't speak it. So i hear them talking, but I don't pay attention because it's rude to eavesdrop & all until they say "that black girl up there" then my ears perk up. I keep my earbuds in so that they think I can't hear them & I continue listening. What they're saying is horrific. To paraphrase, they knew my stop (second to last one before the bus gets back to the terminal & while my stop is at the front of my neighborhood, it's got no street lights & at this time of night, empty.) & to put it simply were planning on "snatching that piece of ass up."
I was about 20 mins away from home, so I knew I had to act quickly. Since I knew they could see me (they were 2 seats behind me but like across if that makes sense) i pretended to play on my phone, oblivious while I was actually texting my mom."Mom, can you please meet me at the bus stop" 5 minutes go by, no answer. We're getting closer to my stop so I decide to call her cell. No answer. I call the house phone & she finally answers. Its about 1230 am so she was asleep. I try to talk as cheerily &calmy as I can. This was our convo. "Hey mom, did you get my text?" "Uh, no...what's up?" "Oh, I sent you a picture of these jeans I'm gonna order online when I get home. I REALLY need your opinion so I REALLY need you to look since the sale ends at 1 am." She gets the hint that I need her to look at her cell so I say goodbye & hope for the best. We get to my stop & I see my mom's car. I snatch my shit up & hightail it off the bus. Idon't even look behind me to see if they're following me. I jump in the car & tell my mom to just GO. I look in the rearview & I see the guys staring at the car.
The next morning I called my job & told them I quit. No more public transport for me. Thanks to my stepmom for teaching me Spanish. Thanks to mom for getting the hint. Weird Spanish speaking guys, let's not meet again.

5.Reason Why You Shouldn't Accept Random Things From Strangers
The other day at work we were basically told to look out for ourselves and others, wait for a security guard etc. Now this was a normal thing for the suburb we live in but it was still a bit strange. My friend from night fill told me why.
Their friend and co-worker finished up at around 12 and was approached by this guy when he was at his car. The guy looked pretty normal, trakkies and all, and gave him an envelope claiming there were free Fringe tickets inside. (side note for clarification: Fringe is an art festival, like music and comedy and dancing etc. in the CBD) There was some sort of white powder on the ticket but he just assumed it was cocaine or something (again not uncommon in this area) so he just grabbed it, planning to throw it out later because it was probably counterfeit.
His mates came out around 12:15 to see him with something like burns on his hands (where he touched the powder) and felt like he was burning on the inside and couldn't breathe properly. Luckily he was still conscious and told them to take him to the hospital which luckily wasn't that far away.
They got there and practically everyone that came into contact with him felt like they were burning under their skin and were all having breathing difficulties within minutes. They had to call HAZMAT/ firies and everyone was decontaminated. Luckily everyone is okay.
Knowing that this shit is so close to home really is unnerving, it was like the anthrax issue except there were no death.

6.This Cemetery Creeper!
This past weekend, my soon-to-be-wife Alexia and I had just settled down for a night of movies, pizza and cuddling. We live in a residential area right outside of town; our home situated right across the street from a Presbyterian church with a large cemetery behind it. Most of our neighbors don't own pets but there's one in particular across the street and downwards a bit who owns perhaps the loudest, most annoying dog to ever exist. Quite an annoyance on a night like tonight but luckily it was quiet for the entire evening.
It's around a quarter after 10:00 PM and we're lying down watching a film in our living room when the loudest dog on earth begins to go off. Unfortunately, there's nothing much we can do, except maybe confront our neighbor or file a noise complaint but who wants to be the neighbor that does that?
After about five minutes, I get up off the couch and decide to walk over to our neighbor's home and say something about the dog. As I headed outside and made it to their driveway, unfortunately, I noticed that the neighbor wasn't home; their only car not there. I decided anyway to walk up to the door and ring the bell. After a minute of no one answering, I gave up and headed back towards home.
I noticed that Alexia had stepped outside and was looking on towards the direction of the barking. I told her that no one was home and that we should either ignore it or finally file a complaint. No one should have to deal with a loud dog at night, especially if you're trying to unwind after a long day of work or are trying to sleep.
Alexia and I had back inside for a bit and finally after about ten minutes the dog ceases to bark. Alexia and I exhaled and laughed a bit before continuing our film. But of course, not long after that, the dog starts up again. This time, it sounded vicious.
I got up, went outside and approached our neighbor's fenced-off backyard and saw the dog, who must've heard or saw me coming. It stopped barking, walked up to me and began to pant in the cute way dogs do. I chuckled and said the dog's name, to which he looked at me and sat down. Such a good animal, even if he's so loud.
I then heard something that sounded like somebody walking through leaves coming from behind me and to the right. I turn around to see somebody looking at me from behind a gravestone in the cemetery. The dog must've heard this as well, as it sprung up and began to bark in the direction of the gravestone.
I looked on as the person continued staring in my direction and as the dog continued to bark. I looked towards my house where I saw Alexia standing near her car, looking at me with a confused look on her face. I looked in horror as I saw the person reveal himself from behind the gravestone; his forehead and cheek was stained red with blood, dripping down off of his chin. In his hand was some sort of dagger.
The dog began to go ballistic as the person took a few steps in our direction before stopping. I turned to the dog, then back at my home. Alexia, who was still outside, yelled out to me what was wrong. I told her to call the police. She said "why, the dog?" to which I replied "he's fucking armed." Probably confused, Alexia went inside to grab her phone as I continued to watch on as the person now began to back off, the dog now going berserk. It was going to take a bit of time for someone to reach our home, so I readied myself to go into self defense as I watched the man finally turn around and walk away towards the back of the cemetery and towards the woods.
When the police finally arrived, the person was long gone and I was stuck there explaining to a couple of skeptical officers about my encounter. They didn't seem to take me that seriously but still investigated the area as I explained to Alexia about the person I saw.
When the police left after finding no trace of anyone, Alexia and I didn't feel much better. We locked our doors and windows and I decided to call our neighbors to fill them in on everything before heading back to continue our movie night in spectacular fashion: with the Exorcist.

7.One More Creepy Story
I just found this sub and I wanted to share my own experience. It happened when I was 13 and it's something I've never forgotten.
We had just moved into a brand new house in a brand new housing development. A lot of the houses around us were either unfinished or had families that had just moved in. Behind our house was a lot of field mostly for more future houses.
We lived in a fairly safe small city and the housing development was very quiet so for the first few years we lived there we never bothered to lock the doors. Even at night most of the time it just wasn't something we thought about.
My parents had just put in hardwood floor so the house was a pretty echoey single story. One night as I was laying in bed trying to fall asleep I thought I heard the back sliding glass door open. I was up late on the internet but everyone else was asleep so the house was quiet. I had my door slightly open so my cat could come and go and so I knew that I was definitely hearing something.
I froze, hoping it wasn't the door but a moment later I heard it slide shut. Then I began to hear what sounded like heavy shoes walking across the hardwood floor. It was a very specific sound and suddenly I couldn't breathe. The footsteps were slow and quiet, like they were trying to make as little noise as possible, but because the floor was wood and our house had high ceilings, the steps echoed down the hallway to my room. Then I heard them stop, the sound of the hallway closet being opened, and then the door quietly clicking shut, like they turned the knob, pulled the door closed, and then released the knob it once it was in place.
It was silent after that. My heart was beating so fast and I began crying. The only way to my parents room was up the hallway. Their door was only about 20 feet away from where that hallway closet was. I was frozen and I honestly thought I would pee my pants I was so scared.
However it was silent for long enough that I knew I had to get my dad. So I stood up and walked sock footed to my door. I stood there for a long time breathing.
Then I ran. It's not a long hallway but I went as fast as I could. I got inside their room and tried to wake my dad up.
"Dad...Dad!" I was frantically whispering.
"Huh" he was half asleep
"Dad!"
"Huh what?"
"Dad I think there's someone inside the house"
"What?"
"Get up I think there's someone inside the house!"
"There's no one in here go back to sleep"
"Yes there is" I start crying.
That gets him up. My mom also wakes up at this point as well. So they both get out of bed. My dad, sure there's no one in the house, doesn't even grab something as a weapon. But I follow behind him as he leaves the room. He goes into the living room, passes the closet, turns on all the lights in the house. I remember standing in the living room, knowing exactly where the person was and not being able to say anything. He tells me look, there's no one. He doesn't check the closet though. And I don't tell him to. I'm so afraid that who ever is in there will jump out with a knife and kill my dad in front of me and 13 year old me keeps thinking I can't be the one responsible for my dad's death. So I say nothing. And I don't tell him to check the closet. I don't know why he didn't because if I were a dad I would have. He locks the front door and tells me to go back to bed.
They wait until I'm back in my room before they close their own bedroom door and go back to sleep. Again the house is silent and I'm laying there afraid because that person is still in here in the one place he didn't look.
Suddenly I hear the closet door open, just as slowly and as quietly as before. Then the footsteps again. I could hear them so clearly walking towards the kitchen were the backdoor is and they stop. That's followed by the sound of the backdoor being slid open and then quietly being pushed closed again. I hear the backdoor click into place. And then the house is silent.
I'm laying there crying and breathing but hearing them leave the house, I felt instant relief though I was still shaking with fear. I give it a few minutes hoping they wouldn't come back. And they don't. So after a bit I sneak out there. My one and only thought is to lock the back door which I manage to do but the scariest part was that when I looked at the hall closet the door wasn't closed anymore. It was cracked because they hadn't bothered to close it after they left though I know it was definitely closed when my dad was out there with me.
I tried bringing it up to them years later and they still didn't believe me. But that's not something you just hear.

8.This Brave Mom
I grew up in rural southern Mississippi, a loooooong time ago. Long before cell phones. My stepfather had a job as a trucker for a short while, and was off on a job. Mom and I were home alone together often during this time he would be on the road, a 9-10 year old girl and a slight woman, not even 5 feet tall.
My mother and I were watching TV when our dog, Mandy, who was just sleeping on the floor suddenly stood up and started growling. She went to the door and growled, then sort of woofed a little, not an actual loud bark, then went over to a window and started pacing rooms, growling and whimpering. She was just a mutt, not any kind of a guard dog, and she NEVER acted like this.
My mother was instantly on alert. She said "heinleinfan, I'm going to get my gun (a .38 pistol), you turn off the lights in the kitchen and the dining room, and look out those windows and tell me if you see anything, and stay low."
I turned out the lights and then crawled over to the dining room windows...looked out...this side of the yard had our gas tank about 10 feet from the house, and a GIANT oak tree about 10 feet to the left and past the gas tank. It was dark, but I saw a man kind of hunched over, like a cartoon character sneaking, dart from behind the tree, to duck down behind the gas tank. I called out to my mother "He's behind the gas tank, just one guy". I couldn't see anything about him, all dark clothes and a mask on and a hat.
She was at the front door at that point, perpendicular to the side I was viewing, and she opened the door and fired 2 shots into the air, not even towards where he was. The guy that was ducked behind the gas tank LIT THE FRACK OUT. I don't think I've ever seen someone run so fast.
-
Then my mom told me: she'd grabbed the phone, of course, heading to go get her gun, but it was dead, so we needed to go get to a phone. She said we'd go on 3 and that I should run to the car, get in as fast as I could and lock the door. She did so as well, but was holding the gun still, pointed up, very clearly armed. She drove us to the neighbor's in the opposite direction the guy had run, called the cops.
When they came out to look over the place and all that, they let us know our phone wasn't dead, the phone line going into the house had been cut.

9.This Creepy Old Predator!
This happened about 4 years ago when I was in 4th grade so I was about 9 or 10 at the time and I went to this little public school which I won't name I lived in a quiet town where everybody knew everybody a peaceful town.
A place you wouldn't expect a rapist to live anyways I don't know if they do this at other schools but at my school there was a thing called Morning Sing were kids would sing to a certain song on the board.I didn't like loud noises because they hurt my ears and I would always sit outside and read books.
On this day I was reading one of the Harry Potter books I think it was Half Blood Prince I may be wrong.
So I was reading when I heard a voice someone saying"Hey come here" I ignored it thinking it was a conversation two other people were having so I went back to reading my book then I saw an old man I thought to myself "He's probably just walking"then I saw him start to cross the street I started to get up and knock on the door so someone would let me in because these doors had an automatic lock so when you went out someone had to let you back in.
Then he said the words that I can remember to this day "Don't be afraid I haven't seen a little boy in so long".That was my breaking point I was banging on this door as hard as I could the old man started to run faster than any old man I've seen when my teacher opened the door now this teacher was a great teacher nice dependable and strong he was even nicknamed after the wrestler Mr.T.
I told him what happened and told him what way the creep went he ran after him and tackled him to the ground. The authorities arrived soon after and arrested the man he's now no longer around children or schools and I have a restraining order against him so even as an adult he can't try to have his way with me Mr.T if you're reading this we should talk sometime.

10.The Guy In The Black Hoodie
This was about a year ago and I still have no idea what happened.
I was laying in bed with my wife at around midnight (same as I am right now, actually) and was looking at random stuff on my phone. Suddenly all electronic things in the house like the fan, alarm clock, lights, etc all lose about 75% of their power. It was like somebody just turned the electricity down in my house.
I immediately got up and went to my kitchen which had two large windows that looked into the back yard. I saw a guy standing there with a black hoodie looking inside the windows, and after a few seconds the power returned to normal and he walked away. I don't believe he saw me, but who knows.
I called our local dispatch immediately and gave the description of the guy and what had happened. I watched as two officers circled the area within 2 minutes.
They found nobody.

11.Reason Why We Should Never Trust Strangers
It all started on saint patrick's day, in a small town, when I met a lanky guy that seemed like fun company. The sun was setting and he said he had some fireworks he could show off, and, having never seen fireworks up close, I agreed. Me, him, and a mutual friend walked to his house, and the fireworks were disappointing but at least not dangerous. On the way back to town he started flirting.
Now he was tall, VERY tall compared to me. I'd say definitely over 6', and I'm about 5'3". I thought he was kinda cute, so I flirted back. He decided to say "I almost want to make a move, but i don't want to scare you". I said go ahead and he grabbed me. He licked my neck and grabbed my crotch through my jeans. I was shocked. No one had seen this happen except the 3 of us in a dark alley at around 8pm. Somehow, I forgave him. I thought he was just, I don't know, bad at these things, that maybe he was drunk or tired or something. I remained friends with him. He was one of the only friends I had.
It was now summer, I was bored, I went to his house, alone, without telling my parents, because they'd just be worried for no reason. It looked dusty and old, like, peeling paint and a blanket of dust in some rooms, and something didn't feel right at all. I heard a dog and it sounded big, but it was in the yard. When I went into his bedroom he closed the door and there were holes in it. All over it, holes and slices. When he's mad he stabs his door, he told me. I was between him and the door. I remember looking past him and seeing a fish tank before hearing something, and flinching. He had thrown a knife into the door, it was impaled into the wood next to me. and now he was laughing because I flinched. "I knew that would scare you" was what he said.
I looked back at the fish tank, it was loud. he opened the door. He told me something that still haunts me. He looked me right in the eyes, so close, and at least a foot taller. Oddly, I remember his nose more than his eyes, with how close it was. In a tone somewhere between smalltalk and the kind of sound like you were complimenting someone's looks, "I could kill you so easily right now." Struggling to keep the fear out of my voice, after a forced laugh, I said that I'd rather sit outside together, rather than inside with all the dust.
I then told him I was going to go get us some ice creams, because he was not allowed to leave his house after his last suicide threat. I tried to keep steady as I walked in the general direction of the carvel. I made sure I was out of his sight. I called my mom, and asked to be picked up, told her I wanted to be picked up because I was bored. She said she could get me in an hour. I decided to spend that hour on the other side of the town, in the library. She said something like I looked sick. I told her it was just the heat and she believed me.

12.This Creepy Neighbor
I'm a small female living alone in a large city. Knowing exactly what this could mean for me, I'm pretty wary of my surroundings and the people in it.
I recently moved to the back of an apartment complex, to the third floor which I was very excited about since I hate being on ground level. A few days after moving in, I met my across-the-way neighbor, Steve. Steve was tall and skinny with dark hair and the tryings of a beard. He was nice, polite in our few passings, but we never had more than an exchange of a few hello's until one Saturday night.
My friend dropped me off at my place late that night and I stumbled up the stairs, stupid drunk. I knew I was making a racket because Steve opened his door as I approached mine. I waved at him and smiled as I fumbled for my keys.
I was facing my door, trying to remember which key it was as they all looked the same, and I felt Steve come up behind me. He grabbed my hand with the keys and breathed "Let me help" and immediately found the correct key and helped me put it into the keyhole. It could have been romantic, looking back, if this guy hadn't proceeded to stick his nose into my hair and take a deep, shaky breath. The red alarms immediately started going off in my head and cut through my drunken stupor. My breath was frozen in my throat and I realized just how fucked I could possibly be.
"Thanks," I mumbled before slipping through my door and locking it behind me. I stood there for a moment going what the fuck, when I heard a soft thump on the other side of the door.
I slowly turned and looked through the peep hole, but I couldn't see anything, only blackness. Which didn't make any sense because there was a light outside which kept the staircase lit. I blinked and stepped back before checking again. This time I saw Steve backing away from the peep hole. My body felt like it was dunked in ice water. Steve went back into his apartment and I didn't hear anything else that night.
For a few weeks after that, I would hear the same soft thump and find Steve trying to peer into my apartment from the peep hole. I could hear his heavy breathing. Sometimes he would even paw at the door, but he never came out when I would come home after that first time.
