#9 Atacama Desert - Chile

Occupying most of Chile, The Altacama Desert is listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as being the driest place in the world. However, there is vegetation south of The Tropic of Capricorn, where coastal mists bring in humidity. These mists are called camanchacas, and are necessary for plant life to survive.
