1.The Last of Us

The first thing you have to admire about this game has to be the graphics as they are so good and the entire game just moves around beautifully and is a pleasure to play. This is a game that is classed as being an action adventure survival game where you need to stay alive even though most of humanity has been wiped out. This is a game that will keep you on your toes until you finish it and it is something that you could easily get quite hooked on in next to no time.

2.Year Walk

This game is all about puzzles and scaring you and it does very well with both counts. There is a very good chance that you will get lost early on and you are going to encounter some rather strange characters as you move around, but the entire game is very well designed and it is a pleasure to play. Yes you may feel as if you are completely lost at different times, but it is going to be a game that takes up entire evenings as you will be determined to solve a puzzle and just see what is going to happen next.

3.Hundreds

Hundreds is a game that is designed to test your mind and the idea is to get circles to grow as big as possible, but without them actually getting in the way of one another. This is all about spatial analysis and working out how to get the most out of the task you are presented with and it is a game that is going to frustrate you at times and make you smile and feel proud of yourself at others.

4.Ridiculous Fishing

This game sounds very basic, and in actual fact it is, and it does involve you doing some fishing in order to then convert it into cash and win prizes. You do need to have patience and the idea of the game is slightly strange to say the least, but that does not take away from the fact that it is a pleasure to play and is a great way to waste a few hours of your life.

5.Metro: Last Light

This game is dark, it is scary, and it is perhaps more for advanced video game players than those people that are just starting out. The levels in the game are unbelievably detailed and the storyline is solid enough to keep you interested as you work your way through the game. You need to have fast reactions or you will not last very long, but overall it is slick, fast, and is certainly one of the best games of 2013.

6.Animal Crossing

Animal Crossing New Leaf is a cool, fun filled game that is suitable for kids of all ages including adults. The characters are bright, they are bubbly, and this is a fantastic game where you deal with cartoons and furniture, so even though it may not make a lot of sense at least it is safe for your children to play all on their own.

7.Fire Emblem

Fire Emblem: New Awakening is a fantasy role playing game that is full of twists and turns that will keep you interested for hours. You really do not know what is going to happen next and this is what keeps you on the edge of your seat and keeps you playing for longer than you perhaps intended. The graphics may not be the best out there, but they are adequate for the role they play and you are going to love playing this game.

8.Warhammer Quest

Warhammer Quest is not revolutionary in anything it does, but it is clearly a fantastic game that is very smooth and does everything that you expect from an adventure style game. The characters are limited in how they move and you then need to wait on your opponent, but even though this may sound boring it is actually good fun and adds to the strategy of the game.

9.Towerfall

This game may look old, but they have decided to design it that way in order to really get that retro feel. It works as a multiplayer thing, but the game can be frustrating and rewarding in equal measure and it will take you back to the golden era at the start of the video games industry where everything was like this and the world seemed like a safer place.

10.State of Decay

This is a game that is based around zombies, so you know that it is going to involve a lot of shooting and killing of them before they manage to kill you. It is a fast paced game and it is certainly enjoyable to play, but it is not that easy and you will probably die quite a lot especially at the start. The idea for the game is first rate and they have put it together very well indeed resulting in something that deserves to be seen as one of the best games of the year.

11.Battleblock Theater

This game focuses more on the puzzles than the graphics, but do not allow this to put you off or you are missing out on playing one of the best games of the year by far. This is a game that will get your mind working as you try to solve the conundrums in front of you and there is a real sense of satisfaction when you manage to solve it and move on to the next one.

12.Remember Me

This game is an action adventure game and as you can see from this screen shot, the graphics on it are what you would expect from modern video games. It is both a platform game as well as a combat game and it is an interesting combination that does work quite well with this example. It does take some getting used to what is going on, but after this you will enjoy playing it and wont stop until completed.

13.Bioshock Infinite

The graphics and smoothness of this game has to be what makes it stand out from the others and it is also fun to play as well. Moving around the city is easy and you will never know where to look next, but do just remember the entire idea of the game, which is to kill different people as you move around. This is a tough game, but it is one of the best this year.

14.Rising Storm

Rising Storm is based on WW2 and it has to be one of the most realistic games of its type that has ever been produced. It gets you to think about strategy, how to work as a team, and of course you need to work at trying to stay alive and time is going to fly past when trying to work all of this out with this showing how good a game it actually is.

15.Antichamber

This game may not be the fanciest out there, but it is seriously cool and seriously good fun to play. It is all about problem solving and it will frustrate you and amaze you in equal quantities, but overall it is the game play that has received the greatest accolades in the industry and you will understand why from the very minute you start playing it.
