Pocahontas is a real Virginian Indian woman who is well known for her association with the colonial settlement at Virginia. Disney Princess Pocahontas is based on the story of this Indian lady. Pocahontas is the only Disney princess character that was developed based on a real person. Princess Mulan is based on a Chinese legend, and no one really knows whether or not the real Mulan (Hua Mulan) existed.
