The story goes that the Holy Family sought shelter in the Milk Grotto Chapel during the Slaughter of the Innocents. Legend has it that as Mary breast fed baby Jesus, a few drops spilled onto the floor and crumbled the rock. Today Christian and Muslims venture there to purchase packets of the white stone.
