1.Papakolea Beach - South Point, Hawaii

Often referred to as green sand beach, this beach is located in Hawaii, in the South Point of the Kau District. The green sand is one of the most unique occurrences, making this beach one of only two green sand beaches in the world. The green hue is made from olivine crystals coming from a nearby cinder cone.

2.Gulpiyuri Beach - Llanes, Spain

The strange part about this beach is that it is completely inland. An oasis, surround by land on all sides, the Cantabrian Sea made its way through the shore to create one of the most unique beaches you will ever find. The water laps the shore just like any other beach, but you cannot see the ocean that serves it.

3.Red Sand Beach - Hana Bay

Located south of Hanna Bay, Red Sand Beach is accessed by a trail on a cliff edge. This secluded beach has no rules, and nudism is allowed. A very unique beach with the sand coloring a result of the nearby cinder cone hill. With strong currents, swimmers should proceed with caution and not swim behind the lava sea wall.

4.Glass Beach - Fort Bragg, California

This section of coastline called Glass Beach, lines the coastline in California at MacKerricher State Park. Once used as a public dump after World War II and for two decades following, it was finally shut down. Waves wore down the glass shards left behind, creating a beautiful cascade of glass covering the shoreline.

5.Schooner Gulch - Mendocino, California

This beach has become known as Bowling Ball Beach because of the large boulders in the shape of balls, covering the sand. Uniform in shape and size, they are perfectly spaced. Called concretions by geologists, these rocks are left behind by the erosion of the Cenzoic mudstone that surrounded them. As the Pacific pounded the shores, the diminishing sand left behind these perfectly formed boulders.

6.Pink Sands Beach- Harbour Island, Bahamas

With pink sand that doesn't stick, and feels like you are stepping on flour, this beach is absolutely stunning in the morning and evening, when the pink becomes more vibrant and glowing. A quiet, relaxing beach that is often location for Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue shoots, creating a mesmerizing backdrop with it's crystal clear water.

7.Hyams Beach - Jervis Bay, Australia

According to the Guinness Book of World Records, Jervais Bay has the whitest sand in the world. A quiet and unassuming beach, the white sand is a huge attraction, along with the blue waters. Jervais Bay is home to many other white sand beaches as well, with the bay being four times larger than Sydney Harbour.

8.Hot Water Beach? - North Island, New Zealand

With water temperatures reaching 147 degrees fahrenheit, beach goers dig holes in the sand to access the underground water reservoirs that are formed by volcanoes. Attracting over 130,000 beach lovers per year, it is one of the most popular beaches in New Zealand, and in the world for those who can get there.

9.Versace Beach - Dubai

Expected to open in 2014, The Palazzo Versace Dubai resort will be home to the first refrigerated beach ever. Heat absorbing pipes will be built under the sand with giant wind blowers, that will keep tourists cool in the usually sweltering hot temperatures that reach 138 degrees fahrenheit. Now that's one cool beach.

10.Mineral Beach - dead Sea,

A beach that doubles as a spa. Beach goers can use the natural mud at the shore line to spread all over their bodies, stimulating circulation and renewing skin cells. It's also great for the hair, strengthening the roots. There is a fresh water pool of water, and the sulphur water pool with a temperature of 102.2 degrees fahrenheit.

11.Barra Airport Beach - Barra Island, Scotland

The beach that doubles as an airport, Barra Airport Beach sits on Barra Island in Scotland. Once a day, at high tide, the airport is completely gone, with no flights landing until the tide drops. As for night landings, cars in the parking lot with their lights on, help guide the plane onto the beach.

12.Maho Beach, St. Maarten, Caribbean

With it's proximity to the Princess Airport, Maho Beach has a special attraction. It's not the amazing blue water, the endless sunshine, or the soft sand between your toes. It's the huge aircrafts that come in for a landing right over your head, so close it seems you can touch them.
