This is the only street in the United Kingdom where you are required to drive on the right hand side. The whole of England drives normally on the left hand side. This street is famous for the very exclusive Savoy Hotel in London and the right hand tradition was started as a result of carriages entering streets in the last century. The hotel was even exclusive then and the carriages had right hand access in order to open their door without the taxi driver leaving his seat. The doors opened backwards.
