If you are looking for somebody that got a lucky break, then how about what happened to Harrison Ford? He was fitting a door for Francis Ford Coppola and an assistant asked if he could read out a few lines as they were testing actresses for a new movie. He did and that movie was Star Wars and he got his own part.
