1.Lizard 2

People are always amazed at how good lizards are at hiding and this is another great example of how good they are at camouflage. This is quite a big lizard, well kind of big, but see how he manages to really match the stuff under him, how cool would it be if we could do that?

2.Fish

It is quite useful for some fish to be able to blend in like this guy because it does make it harder for the bigger animals to hunt and eat them. It is pretty cool how his markings do help him to vanish before your very eyes, but of course he is a fish, so has to swim around a bit in order to keep breathing.

3.Snow leopard

This guy has the perfect fur for his surroundings and that allows him to hunt his prey without any real problems. As you can see he does blend in pretty well with the rocks, but he lives in a bleak place, so in actual fact he can hide pretty much in plain view.

4.Stick Insect

This is pretty cool because you would be convinced that it was just a series of leaves unless you knew you were specifically looking for animals that are good at camouflage. It is remarkable how he can blend in like this.

5.Frog

There are a number of species of frogs out there that can really blend into their background and this is just one example. This guy is going to just sit there until the thing that is hunting him passes or the thing he is hunting comes along and he can throw out that tongue and catch it.

6.Giraffe

The giraffe is actually better at hiding itself than you would imagine because most people think that its long neck will give the game away. However, as you can see here the neck resembles a tree trunk and the giraffe does hide pretty well.

7.Spider

Imagine if you hate spiders and this guy is hanging around. The way that he has blended into the tree is pretty amazing and it is bound to completely freak some people out knowing that there are spiders out there that can blend into the background like some spider ninja.

8.Chameleon

The thing about this image is that you can see it because of the angle, so can therefore see the shape of it as it sticks out of the tree. However, imagine looking at it flat and it would blend in pretty well, so this little guy really is seriously good at camouflage.

9.Owl 2

This owl is actually quite freaky and you do have to look twice in order to see it and realize that this is indeed an owl sitting in a tree. OK so if it opens its eyes then it gives the game away, but that is one clever owl, either that or it is sleeping.

10.Leopard

Go on, see if you can spot the leopard in here. (get it?..spot!!) They have to be very good at hiding themselves away in order to jump out on that lazy antelope that is hanging around without its mates and you have to admit that they are pretty good at it.

11.Owl

An owl has this amazing ability to apparently blend into the background at different times as this simple photograph shows. The strangest thing is that we never really think of them as being a camouflage animal either.

12.Snake

Snakes can be exceptionally good at hiding away just waiting to jump out on their prey. That does of course mean that there can often be a problem with them jumping out at humans and indeed it does count for a number of people being killed due to an ambushing snake.
